UKRAINE WILL RECEIVE TOMOS—DECISION OF ECUMENICAL PATRIARCHATE
The Synod of the ecumenical patriarchate made a decision to grant a tomos concerning autocephaly to the Orthodox Church in Ukraine. The procedure will be finally completed after the Orthodox churches of Ukraine—the UPTsKP, UAPTs, and part of the episcopate of the UPTsMP—conduct a unification council and select a primate. At that time, the newly formed Orthodox Church in Ukraine will enter into full-fledged communion with ecumenical Orthodoxy.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has just declared during a briefing: "Finally our star will also shine in the constellation of Orthodox churches. The decision about granting autocephaly to Ukraine has been made! This is a great victory of light over darkness and the God-loving Ukrainian people over Moscow." (tr. by PDS, posted 11 October 2018)
