SBU: RUSSIAN SPECIAL SERVICES TRYING TO CREATE CHAOS IN UKRAINE TO PREVENT RECEIPT OF TOMOS

RISU, 3 October 2018

Two of the primary activities of Russian special services at present are inflaming inter-religious hostility because of the possibility of Ukraine's receiving a tomos and arranging actions for inducing the leadership of Ukraine to make concessions to Russia.

This was described by the deputy chairman of the SBU [Ukrainian Security Service], Viktor Kononenko, during a briefing, a UNN correspondent reports.

"The cited facts are only a part of a unified plan that is being conducted by special services of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine. The goal is to create so-called directed chaos. The two main areas of action at present are inflaming inter-religious strife because of the possibility of Ukraine's receiving a tomos as well as arranging actions with the goal of the so-called inducement of the leadership of Ukraine to make concessions to the aggressor state and initiate peace negotiations on conditions beneficial to it," Kononenko said.

In the first case, the SBU expects the incitement of seizures of buildings of one of the confessions supposedly by representatives of right-wing radicals of nationalistic organizations and subsequent incitement of armed confrontations and actions of protest with the participation of believers.

In the second case, the representative of the security service noted, is the inspiration of pickets and protests and sending petitions and appeals to government bodies with the demand of restoring peace at any price. (tr. by PDS, posted 4 October 2018)
