Anti-extremism personnel check Orthodox Jewish site

"E" CENTER TRIES TO CONDUCT SEARCH IN MOSCOW JEWISH ORGANIZATION

SOVA Center for News and Analysis, 1 October 2018

Personnel of the "E" Center tried to find extremist literature in a Moscow organization of Orthodox Judaism "Jewish Campus."

On 28 September 2018, personnel of the subdivision for combating extremism of the Directorate of Internal Affairs for the Central Administrative District of Moscow arrived at a local religious organization of Orthodox Judaism "Jewish Campus."

Without showing a warrant for conducting an operational search event, they tried to seize literature. A female employee of the organization did not allow them to survey the entire premises and did not admit them into the room for the study of the Torah.

After becoming convinced that the available literature was properly identified and that the name of the organization is on the doors, the policemen stated that they had arrived "to get acquainted," and they checked the passport of the employee who was talking with them and departed.

We recall that previously personnel of the E Center conducted a search in the Moscow Choral Synagogue. (tr. by PDS, posted 1 October 2018)
