Bureaucrats use recent real estate law to harass protestants

One of the protestant religious organizations in Rostov-on-Don and its pastor will pay a fine of 600 thousand rubles for misuse of a parcel of land, Interfax was told at the press service of the directorate of Rosreestr for Rostov oblast.

 

"The directorate held the local religious organization of the Hope Church of Christians of Evangelical Faith and its pastor administratively liable. The reason for holding said persons administratively liable was materials of a verification by the prosecutor's office of compliance with the legislation for the use of land. On the basis of the results of the verification, two cases of administrative violation of law were opened, one of which was against the pastor," the news agency's interlocutor said.

 

He said that in addition to the fine, the pastor of the religious organization was issued a remedial action order for removing the causes and circumstances that contributed to the commission of the violations of law that were discovered.

 

A representative of the regional directorate of Rosreestr noted that in the course of 2016 to 2018, the agency has already discovered violations of land legislation by various religious organizations on the territory of Rostov oblast and has held them administratively liable.

 

"From the point of view of law, persons who commit administrative offenses are equal before the law and a legal entity is subject to administrative liability. The basic violations that inspections found to be committed by religious organizations in the period 2016 to 2018 were violations of articles 7 and 42 of the Land Code, articles 25 and 26 of the Land Code, and article 1 of the Land Code 'On state registration of real estate,' of 13 July 2015," the news agency's source specified.
