RESIDENT OF GORODISHCHE FINED FOR CONDUCTING ILLEGAL MISSIONARY ACTIVITY

The prosecutor's office of Gorodishche district conducted an inspection of compliance with legislation on combating extremist activity on the territory of the district.
It was established that one of the residents of the city of Gorodishche, who is the leader (pastor) of a religious group, in violation of the requirements of federal law "On freedom of conscience and religious associations," without have given notification of the creation and start of the activity of a religious group and without permission granting him relevant authorization, conducted missionary activity directed at the dissemination of information about his religious belief among persons who are not members of the said religious association, with the goal of drawing new followers into its membership.
On the basis of violations discovered, the prosecutor's office of the district opened against this citizen a case of administrative violation of law provided by part 4 of article 5.26 of the Code of Administrative Violations of Law of the RF (conduct of missionary activity with violation of the requirements of legislation on freedom of conscience and freedom of religious confession and on religious associations).
By order of a magistrate judge, which has taken legal effect, the person was fined 5,000 rubles. (tr. by PDS, posted 5 June 2018)
