JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES DESCRIBE ANOTHER PLANTING OF FORBIDDEN MATERIALS ON THEM BY LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL
At a Jehovah's Witnesses worship service, which was held on 17 June in rented premises in a business center on Kalinin Street in Penza, personnel of the police and Investigative Committee appeared (five persons in all). Before the eyes of the astonished believers, police officers, without being fazed by the video tape that believers were making, deliberately approached the far corner of the room where they "discovered" four publications that are included in the list of extremist materials.
The believers openly declared that the materials had been planted on them. Law enforcement personnel composed a report but did not permit the believers to put into it their own comments, the press service of the Administrative Center of Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia reports.
Since the believers do not rent the premises in the business center on a continuing basis, access to it in their absence is controlled by workers in the building.
Planting of forbidden literature on Jehovah's Witnesses has become more frequent recently throughout Russia. Such incidents usually are connected with attempts to liquidate local religious organizations of Jehovah's Witnesses through a court. In some cases the court has taken the believers' side.
