Interfax-Religiia, 6 January 2016
Unidentified persons committed arson in a church consecrated to St. Peter Mogila in Kiev.
On 5 January, at night, the criminals set fire outside the north wall of the altar area of the church. As a result, the façade of the building was burned but the flame did not spread inside, the press service of the UPTs reports.
"The arson was committed at such a spot that the blaze was noticed later. Only by God's grace was the church not burned down, since people called the fire department in time," the rector of the church, Archpriest Ioann Tronko, explained.
In the past year, criminals have set fire three times to the church consecrated to the icon of the Mother of God the Joy of all who Sorrow, in the same Shevchenko deanery of Kiev. (tr. by PDS, posted 6 January 2016)
